Infor LN & Baan Tips & Tricks for EXECUTIVES:

OPERATIONS: Order Quantity Dependent Routings vs Default Routings
Order quantity-dependent routings
An automatically selected routing tailored to a specific production order quantity is useful. An example would be if the production order quantity is large, a routing with high production rates is used; If the order quantity is small, another routing is selected.

You can set up these quantity-dependent routings:

  • Select the Quantity-dependent Routing check box in the Item - Production (tiipd0101m000) session.

  • Enter the routing codes in the Item - Routings (tirou1101m000) session. Enter the maximum quantity for which a routing is valid in the Up to Quantity field.

Note: If multisite functionality is activated, the routings available may vary per site on the job shop bill of material selected. Differences in routings have an impact on the standard cost calculation.

Default routing

If the Quantity-dependent Routing check box is not selected, the default routing applies to an item. However, this default routing must also be linked to the item. To find out, LN checks the default routing code in the Default Routing field of the Job Shop Master Data Parameters (tirou0100m000) session. Next, LN checks whether the default routing code is linked to the item in the Item - Routings (tirou1101m000) session. If so, the default routing applies to the item. If the default routing is not linked to the item, no routing is used.

FINANCE: Integration Transactions - Compression
Integration transactions can be compressed before they are posted. For each integration document type, you can indicate whether the debit transactions and/or the credit transactions must be compressed.

Transactions can be compressed if the following transaction details have the same value:

  • The source financial company.

  • The destination financial company.

  • The transaction type and series.

  • The ledger account and dimensions.

  • The transaction currency.

  • The fiscal year and the financial period, the tax period, and the reporting period.

  • The integration document type and the Debit/Credit indicator.

  • If related gain and loss transactions are generated, the same compression criteria are used to compress these.

Note: Intergroup transactions are not compressed.

TECHNOLOGY: Infor LN Rest API

Frequently Asked Questions (KB2316174)

For Infor LN a framework has been developed to support REST API-based services for lean integrations. This framework is now made available for the LN application. This KB answers some common questions you may have and procedures that are needed for using the LN Rest APIs.

More details on these topics can be found in the Infor LN REST API Administration Guide.

Finance: Cost Rollup by Effective Date
Allow the load standard cost from routing and cost rollup programs to process as of a specified effective date.  With the addition of an optional effective date parameter to prompt screens for cost rollup CST500 and load standards from routing CST600. If entered, only consider bill of material components and routing operations with effective and discontinue dates that make them effective as of the entered parameter effective date.

Operations: Outside Operation Purchase Order Include Vendor Item Number
Copy the vendor item number from the vendor quote to purchase orders created automatically from outside operations of shop orders. During the process of automatically creating purchase orders from outside operations of shop orders, copy the vendor item number from the vendor quote to the purchase order line. With this change, looking at a purchase order that was created automatically for an outside operation of a shop order, the vendor item number from the vendor quote will be visible on the purchase order line.

Technology: Group Security for ILM501 Inbound Delivery Maintenance
Add function key / action code security to control who is authorized to create/revise/delete functions in ILM501 Inbound Delivery Maintenance.  With added Group Security, managers can control which users are authorized to create, change and delete deliveries in ILM501 Inbound Delivery Maintenance.

Table Timestamp Definitions (ttadv4136m000)

Use this session to define timestamps for Infor LN tables. A timestamp is an additional column that stores the date and time of the last change for each record.

Timestamps are utilized by features like the extraction logic of CPM Enterprise Analytics. They enable CPM to perform incremental data extractions. For example, CPM can use the timestamps to extract records that were changed during the last week in a weekly extraction process.

To Create Timestamps...

Operations: To absorb the cost of cost items into specific projects, you'll need to handle them as customized items. However, cost items cannot directly be defined as customized items. Customized items must be physical, either manufactured or purchased.

That said, it's still possible to absorb cost items into a project, although indirectly. Here's how:

  1. Set Up Ledger Account: First, create a new ledger account in session tfgld0508m000 and set the type to "PCS" (project) in the operations management integrations. This account will be used for matching and approving purchase orders for cost items.

  2. Create and Activate Projects: Ensure that the necessary projects are created and set to active status.

  3. Purchasing Cost Items...
