Infor LN & Baan Tip: Backflushing of Materials & Hours

Why do I sometimes see small decimal quantities remaining after backflush?

This behavior is largely caused by differences in decimal quantities allowed in inventory units versus the display format of the data. Having different display formats with different rounding for material quantities and warehouse line quantities means that since these quantities interact, if one is rounded more strictly and the other is not, then the rounded quantity is being propagated to the other quantity, thus resulting in a loss of decimals. As a result, it is advised to not use different formats and rounding settings for material quantities and warehouse line quantities.

Previously, Material Requirements Planning (MRP) preferred practices meant that the component's due date was the same as the parent's shop order release date. Because MRP trends have changed, the preference for this due date is the day before the release date of the parent. Although Infor LX already has this functionality in Shop Order Maintenance programs (SFC500), users could not change how due dates were determined for lower-level shop orders in Multi-Level Shop Order Release, SFC530D.

This enhancement provides an additional parameter for Multi-Level Shop Order Release. This parameter allows the user to change how the due date of the child components is determined. The Multi-Level Shop Order Release, SFC5302, has a new parameter for shop orders. The Due Date of Children = Release Date of Prent (Due Date of Children) field allows the user to set the due date determined for multi-level shop orders.

This feature uses different exchange rates in the user's inventory processes by using new macros in Post Inventory to G/L, INV920D. INV920 used macros limited by the Override Exchange Rate parameter set on the book in Book Definition, CEA105D3. If the Override Exchange rate parameter is set to No, the macro uses the Rate Type of the Book. If the Override Exchange parameter is set to Yes, the macro uses the Rate Type of the Order Company. This enhancement provides macros that use the Rate Type of the Order Company. This enhancement provides macros that use the Rate Type of the Warehouse Company, Order Company, or the Book regardless of the Override Exchange Rate parameter in the Book.

To use the ‘Use-Up’ or ‘Alternative’ functionality the correct ATP settings of the use-up item must be defined. Order Planning makes use of ATP to determine if there is still supply available. The component needs to have a CTP horizon greater than 0. Then a top down item selection should be chosen when generating order planning in order for the ATP checks to be done and for the system to plan for the correct components.

Selecting the 'top down item' box when generating order planning is essential because when order planning is generated for only the top level item the components aren't "really" planned for. But when a top down selection is run, the system goes through the BOM and plans for each component accordingly.

Transactions to be mapped - In the mapping scheme, you must define the ledger mapping and the dimension mapping for these types of transactions:

  1. Financial integration transactions resulting from logistic events in Operations Management.
  2. General Ledger transactions.
  3. Procurement card transactions in Accounts Payable.

In addition, to support dimension accounting...
